Author: Emma Donoghue

Narrators: Michal Friedman, Ellen Archer, Suzanne Torren, Robert Petkof

I listened to this audiobook at work and that wasn't one of my best choices. I was an emotional wreck the whole time. The thing I loved about this story was the way it explored the emotional trauma of leaving captivity and re-assimilating to society. Generally books about captivity or being kidnapped end when the characters escape or are rescued. The new perspective in Room was a fresh take on the common subject of thrillers. The narrator's "kid" voice was a bit painful to listen to, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Room was haunting and memorable. Definitely add it to your list.
