The Life We Bury

Author: Allen Eskens

This was quite the read. The book was a page turner, not because it was so action packed, but because I was dying to solve the mystery. The characters are relatable and realistic. The storyline is intriguing and I didn't want to put this book down. My only regret is that Eskens took the "path of least resistance" with the ending and tied all loose ends with a tidy bow. This made the novel lose some the the relatability forged in the earlier pages, but the ending wasn't enough to make the book cliche. This is definitely an entertaining read. It made me rush to get Esken's third novel The Heavens May Fall from the library.
