Tiny Beautiful Things

Author: Cheryl Strayed

It should be obvious from my one star rating this book was not my cup of tea. I'm going to make a nice list of the things that bothered me and leave this review at that. If this WAS your kind of book, please email me. I'd love to hear your side.

  • Sugar's advice was painful to read. It was long, boring, mostly ineffective and easily summarized by the last paragraph of each section she wrote. I found myself skimming her sections and reading the letters written by others because they were very interesting.
  • Most of Sugar's advice was somehow about HER. I don't know about you, but if I wrote an advice column and the answer was largely about the author, I'd be furious.
  • She tended to be extremely condescending. Thanks, but no thanks.

Safe to say, I don't think I'll be picking up Wild anytime soon so I can learn more about Strayed's personal life.
